Make Your Own Personalized Canvas Temple Print
Are you looking for something for your Young Women to make for Mother’s Day?
Check this out!
(This would also be a great Relief Society project, any Young Women activity, Girls Night Out…)
I just sent my print into Costco and it came back really great.
I could have framed it, but I wanted to do something a little different so I put it on canvas.
Here is how I did it:
This is what you need:
– Modge Podge
– Foam brushes
– 8 x 10 canvas (This came in a pack of 2 at Michael’s for $6 with no coupon)
– Scissors
– Patterned Paper
First you cut strips of paper to wrap around the edges of the canvas. I Went about 3 times wider than the edge of the canvas.
Mold the strip to the sides and cut diagonal lines at the corners so you can fold it down nice and neatly
Brush some Modge Podge along the side and around on the front and back where the paper will go
Put the paper on and press it down and mold it into place
Then fold the corners in
And then cover and glue down the pieces.
Do the same to all four sides
Then place the temple print on top and trim it down if you need so it shows the amount of paper you want it to around the outside.
You also want the print to sit pretty flat and not overlap the corners.
Put a layer of Modge Podge over the entire front
And then lay the print on top and then do an entire layer of Modge Podge along everything. The picture and the paper along the sides.
Be careful to have pretty straight brush lines because you will be able to see the texture when it dries.
Then it will dry all nice and clear.
I think this would make a perfect gift!
It may just be me, but none of the pictures that are loaded in the body of your post are showing up. It just says the file name for it. I checked in Firefox and Safari and the pictures didn’t show up in either one.
I can’t see photos either
Hi, just to say the pictures didn’t work for me either. 🙁
none of the pictures are loaded in the body of the post for me as well..?
I’m not seeing any pictures either. 🙂 It sounds amazing though!
No pictures in Safari or Internet Explorer. Can’t wait to see the project!
Beautiful!! It looks really easy. Something that I might be able to handle.
Beautiful, can you tell me if modge podge is known as something else in the UK??
What a great idea! Love it!
You can tell people in other countries that a mixture of white glue with a little water works just as well as Modge Podge does. I used it one time when I ran out. The mixture just needs to be thin enough to spread.
This is an awesome idea!! Love the look!! I’m wondering, is the paper boarder necessary? Would it work if some of the girls (YW) want a “frameless” canvas look?
Hi Lisa!
Yes! I think that would look great… and be easier! I have mine up in my family room and I love it!
Good luck!

Thank you so very much for this wonderful idea. The message this month for Visiting Teaching is on Temple Covenants and when I saw this post I thought I would do something different. I invited my companion over along with the sisters we teach and we each made one. They thought it was wonderful and they loved it!!! It was so much fun getting together. Thank you again for such an incredible idea.
That is so awesome Melissa! What a great way to incorporate the VT message!!! Thank you so much for sharing! 🙂

All of these would be great but the revelation package is what I need right now.
