Please Read This Talk on the Family- The Red Headed Hostess
This talk was given to seminary and institute teachers in the Fall of 2009. It is absolutely amazing – and a version of it is one of the suggested talks in the Come Follow Me Curriculum this month.
Sister Julie Beck, the former General Relief Society President, gave this talk and after she finished, we all walked away with so much to think about, consider, and change. In fact, I remember that the teachers who heard it kept bringing it up throughout the following year. Parts of her talk will come to my mind during daily occurrences – as I watch the news, or see something on tv, or hear conversations…. her talk has helped me see, understand, and think clearly.
I have studied it with my husband, taught my students it, my bishop had me speak to our youth about it…. it is not just for teachers, it is for everyone. Especially parents. I have read it again and again, and I still am soaking up its contents. Please read it.
In fact, I think it would be an amazing thing to study together as a family. As you read it, you will see that it would be really easy to divide up the contents and have the discussion stretch over several days.

Also, here is a teaching package to help young women learn about the importance of preparing now to become righteous mothers and wives.

This is a great talk! Thanks for sharing. It got me thinking a lot about new issues I need to address with both my kids and with the Young Women in my ward. I’m going to read it again and again. I love Julie Beck.
My husband is in CES and when we heard this talk (already love love Julie Beck), it was one of those moments when you know you are expriencing something great. I have read, and re-read this talk. It is a landmark talk. I hope everyone takes the time to read it.
I LoVE this. Loved it when I heard it; love what you’ve added to it.

Wahoo Stephanie! I want to hear about it!
By the way… I just found out your brother is married to my friend Mindy. Small world!
